We are thrilled to be celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouts of the USA this year! We have so many exciting plans and so many different ways to celebrate the 100th that we hope you’ll visit this site over and over again to see what cool new things are happening in honor of Girl Scouting’s biggest anniversary ever.
If you want to get involved, volunteer, or make a donation, please contact marketing@gsneo.org
The advent of this milestone provides a unique opportunity to not only reflect on the tremendous contributions the organization has made over the past 100 years but to also rally support for the next century of Girl Scouts.
Our centennial offers girls like you the chance to shape the celebration and take action in ways to define your generation.
Aluminum Beverage Can Recycling Project April 28 & September 22 GSNEO Camporees Join GSNEO in a council-wide effort to REDUCE WASTE by recycling aluminum beverage cans at the Camporees during our 100th Anniversary celebrations. Collect a bag of aluminum cans, bring it to the camporee, and toss in the cans to help fill our bin! We have enough room for 10,000 cans – what impact can we make working together on this project? Every person bringing cans for recycling will be entered into our drawings for Forever Green Prizes. Why Recycle Aluminum? Because recycling aluminum saves so much energy, this is a huge opportunity for consumers to reduce their carbon footprint. In fact, if we could recover and recycle 75% of aluminum cans —600,000 metric tons of aluminum—we could save 1286 megawatts of generated electricity. That's the amount produced by two coal fired power plants. Replacing this production with recycling would keep 11.8 million metric tons of carbon dioxide from being generated and released into the atmosphere.
