Chief Operating Officer
Brittany Grimes Zaehringer, Esq., MSSA, (36) is the Chief Operating Officer of the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio (GSNEO). Brittany was hired in 2007 to help spearhead the merger process of five legacy Girl Scout councils in northeast Ohio. GSNEO, which covers eighteen northeastern counties in Ohio, has six offices, seven camp properties and over 100 year round employees. GSNEO employs another 100 seasonal employees during camp season.
Prior to joining GSNEO, Brittany held several positions under the Summit County Executive's Office in Akron, Ohio, including, Equal Employment Opportunity Compliance Officer, Assistant Deputy Director of Contract Administration and Human Resources Administrator. In addition to her government service, she has several years experience creating and implementing quality control measures in the non-profit sector. In Philadelphia, Pa., Brittany was the Director of Advocacy, Quality Assurance and Staff Development for CGFNS International, a company providing credentialing for foreign-educated healthcare professionals. As Contract Compliance Officer for Akron Summit Community Action, Inc., she was responsible for monitoring compliance on all agency contracts, including federal grants like Head Start and LI-HEAP and served as the legal liaison for outside counsel. Brittany also has experience coordinating accreditation policies and procedures for several social service programs in Florida. As an associate attorney with Buckingham, Doolittle and Burroughs, LLP, she practiced in the areas of Domestic Relations, Commercial Litigation and Non-Profit Corporations.
Brittany received her JD and Master of Science in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Brittany earned several academic scholarships and awards while at Michigan and CWRU. One such award was the Student Public Interest Law Fellowship, which she used to intern at The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland. Brittany is a 1991 graduate of John R. Buchtel High School in Akron.
Over the years, Brittany has been active in her community through several non-profit boards and affiliations. She is currently on the boards of the Women’s Endowment Fund, International Institute of Akron and First Tee Akron. Brittany is a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, a member of the United Way Young Leaders Society Committee, a graduate of the Child and Family Leadership Exchange Program of Summit County, a 2009 recipient of Kaleidoscope Magazine’s 40 under 40 Award, and a recipient of the 2009 Greater Akron Chamber 30 for the Future Award. Brittany is currently a member of Leadership Akron, Class XXVI. The daughter of Raymond and Deborah Grimes of Akron, Brittany lives in Akron with her husband Peter Zaehringer, who is President and CEO of Zynergy Globall, LLC.
