Director of Volunteer Development
Kim Klima is an experienced, influential, leader and agent of positive change who provided leadership at the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio during the National Council Realignment process, a critical time of change. Kim has developed and/or aligned multiple systems, processes, and ways of work. As the Director of Volunteer Development she provides leadership and ongoing oversight in the implementation of the council’s volunteer engagement strategy, including screening, placement, development, retention, and recognition of volunteers. Kim provides support for the recruitment of volunteers in multiple roles throughout the council through the identification and cultivation of applicant sources, applicant referral, and applicant processing.
Before becoming the Director of Volunteer Development Kim was Manager of Member Services and Community Development with the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio, Kim provided the leadership and oversight to the day-to-day operations for achievement of the organization’s mission within the North and Central Service Area. Kim’s ability to motivate and retain a high-performance staff as well as her background in providing supervision, leadership, support and direction to staff and volunteers has proven invaluable over the years.
Prior to her work with the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio Kim served as Assistant Chief Operating Officer for the Girl Scouts of Lake Erie Council, and was responsible for directing the Membership and Training Departments.
Kim has been a member of the Girl Scouts of USA (GSUSA) for over 20 years. She is also a member of the Association of Girl Scout Executive Staff (AGSES); the Forum for Volunteer Administrators (FVA); and The UW Woman's Leadership Council.
A strong believer in investing in the lives of children, for over a decade Kim also served as a Girl Scout volunteer in various roles including troop leader, volunteer service unit director and membership delegate. Kim currently serves as Cubmaster for a Cub Scout pack in North Olmsted and is a board member of the Eddie Johnson Memorial Foundation which helps youth and families in need.
Kim resides in North Olmsted with Tony, her husband of 22 years. They are the proud parents of two grown daughters who were both Girl Scouts Kindergarten through 12th grade; one of which serves as a two-time National Delegate for GSNEO and their son who is determined to earn his Eagle Award with Boy Scouts!
