With every season of Girl Scout Cookies, another generation of girls learn to set goals, make a plan, and manage money . As women, they'll need to know these things for economic selfsufficiency, whether their goal is to start a business, or a family. As the largest Financial Literacy education program for girls in the country, the Girl Scout Cookie program, builds leaders one cookie and one girl at a time.
Everything girls do in Girl Scoutsing is designed to help them grow into leaders of Courage, Confidence, and Character. The 5 Skills girls learn through the Girl Scout Cookie Program are an important ingredient int he Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Here are a few examples of how participating int he Cookie Program teaches Girl Scouts skills that will help them grow into leaders in their own lives, leaders in business and leaders in the world!
GOAL SETTING: Girl Scouts set cookie goals invididually and, with her team, and create plans to reach them. She develops cooperation and team building skills along the way!
DECISION MAKING: Girl Scouts help decide how the team will spend their cookie money, furthering critical thinking and problem solving skills that will help in many aspects of life.
MONEY MANAGEMENT: A Girl Scout takes orders, handles customers' money and gains valuable and practical life skills around financial literacy.
PEOPLE SKILLS: Girl Scouts learn how to talk to, listen to and work with all kinds of people while selling cookies. These experiences help develop health relationship and conflict resolution skills to use throughout life.
BUSINESS ETHICS: A Girl Scout is hones and responsible at every step of the cookie sale. Her business ethics reinforce the positive values she is developing as a Girl Scout.
