KWLA is a leadership development program sponsored by the KeyBank Foundation, to educate and empower Girl Scout volunteers to build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. At GSNEO, we are focused on engaging more volunteers, enhancing leadership development programs, and strengthening our ability to help girls reach their fullest potential. The KWLA curriculum is designed to assist participants in identifying and connecting their skills and strengths to specific roles within GSNEO at either the organizational or youth level.Over the next three years, several hundred Key Women’s Leadership Academy participants will develop knowledge and skills that will be transferred to the entire GSNEO membership as well as support their professional and personal journeys.
As Girl Scouts celebrates its 100th anniversary, transitioning to the next century means transforming our adult training curriculum to enable our organization to truly realize its potential to build the women leaders of tomorrow. Therefore, we seek a diverse population of women who represent our council and our communities across Northeast Ohio.
Key benefits of this program:• Increase leadership strengths and talents • Gain knowledge and experience utilizing the best practices of youth development • Improve communication, conflict resolution and teambuilding skills • Build a network of peers • Have fun
KWLA participants are required to attend and participate in the following activities throughout the course of the Year:• Leadership Academy Retreat (2 ½ Days / Overnight Experience) - Next one January 25-27, 2013 • 6 Monthly Leadership Sessions• 3 Adult Learning Experiences• End of the Year Celebration
Tuition for participation in the Key Women’s Leadership Academy is $50 for current Girl Scout members and $62 for non-members. The non-member fee includes GSUSA member dues ($12/year). Each participant is expected to pay a minimum of 50% of the tuition; the remaining balance may be paid by the employer, sponsoring organization or the individual participant.
