It has been 18 years since a Girl Scout from the East High School cluster earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouting. Heaven Wortman, a senior at East High School and an Ambassador Girl Scout with Troop 90358, is determined to change that.
Girl Scout Troop 71047 earned the Girl Scout Bronze Award and a Sign Dedication was held on Sunday, May 15, 2011.
In cooperation with the City of Westlake, the Service Department and Sign Shop Staff at the City of Westlake Service Department and Junior Troop 71047, a sign was created and posted permanently at the Westlake Bradley Road Nature Park.

Cleveland, OH - At a ceremony Friday, April 15, Girl Scouts of North East Ohio (GSNEO) accepted a check in support of Operation: Sweet Appreciation, a Girl Scouts Gift of Caring service project which sends Girl Scout Cookies to U.S. troops overseas. Representatives from the United Auto Workers Local 1050 and Alcoa Foundation presented the check for $2,645 to GSNEO Chief Executive Officer, Daisy L. Alford Smith, Ph. D., at Alcoa Cleveland Works.
This is the third consecutive year the UAW Local 1050 has collected money for Operation: Sweet Appreciation. UAW Local 1050 represents more than 800 workers at Alcoa Inc.
