Troop Leaders and Cookie Chairs,
You may have read or heard about some Lemon Chalet Crèmes™ Girl Scout Cookies being withdrawn for quality reasons. First, be assured that none of these affected cookies have been or will be delivered to Girl Scouts of North East Ohio (GSNEO).
Little Brownie Bakers, the maker of Girl Scout Cookies, announced a recall of some of its Lemon Chalet Crèmes™ cookies on Thursday. They discovered that a few production lots contained oils that were breaking down causing a peculiar off-taste and smell. These cookies are safe for consumers to eat, but because they did not meet high quality standards, these batches have been withdrawn from the market and are being replaced. No other Girl Scout cookies are affected.
GSNEO is thrilled with the support that our girls have received during our annual cookie sale this year. We are happy that our cookies were not affected by the withdrawal and that our customers will continue to experience the same high quality cookies that they have come to know and love.
However, if you have a customer who does not want the Lemon Chalet Crèmes they ordered, even after you explain that we were not affected by the recall; please offer them another type of cookie.
Please then continue to sell your excess Lemon Chalet Crèmes to other customers. If you are unable to sell the cookies that were rejected by a customer, please contact your Council office. If you return them to the office, we will credit your troop for those packages.
If you have any questions regarding the Lemon Chalet Cremes, please contact 1-888-984-4664 or 1-800-852-4473 ext 0371. Thank you for your continued support of Girl Scouts and your troop's participation in the 2010 Cookie Sale.
