Girls in Cadette Troop #329 completed work for their Silver Award by providing approximately 5,000 books to needy children in two of Cleveland Public Schools.
Children at Marion-Sterling and Wade-Park Elementaries were treated to an all-day book fair where all students could come and browse through books, choosing five or six of their favorites to take home and keep as their own.
The Cadettes, from Shore Middle School in Mentor and Kirtland Middle School were given the day off of school to conduct the book fair.
They held drives at their schools to gather the books and were overwhelmed by the generous response. They then sorted the books according to age and reading level so children could easily find age-appropriate books.
