Strongsville Service Unit 715 held its annual World Thinking Day at the Strongsville Recreation Center. More than 300 Girl Scouts participated. To celebrate this year's theme "End Extreme Poverty and Hunger," the Girl Scouts donated over 500 pantry items to the Strongsville Food Bank and $300 was donated to the Red Cross-International Relief Fund for Haiti. The Service Unit also celebrated with a very special World Thinking Day Candle Ceremony to honor all sister Girl Scouts and Girl Guides around the world.
Of the 27 troops that attended, 17 troops chose different countries from the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts' (WAGGGS) five regions and made posters, flags, crafts and food which represented their chosen country. There was an Olympic themed parade and ten of these troops presented dances and/or facts about their country on stage.
