A team of GSNEO Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts has been hard at work for the last several months developing a Together Greening environmental project with a team of Scouts in Iceland.
Both teams have focused their efforts to educate other youth about the importance of reducing the use of plastics and recycling plastic products, especially single-use items such as water bottles and plastic bags.
The landscape of Iceland and Ohio are very different from one another, but both share something in common: miles of coastline and the need to keep these global waters clear of plastic debris that is a danger to the environment, especially marine life.
The GSNEO team has connected locally with Alliance for the Great Lakes and will be launching ongoing Adopt-a-Beach programs beginning this spring.
Invite your friends and family to join in the fun at one of our beach clean up days! Our goal is to have 400 youth participate in this project!
Refreshments will be provided. Bring work gloves and a water bottle. Dress for the weather and wear closed toe shoes for safety. Don’t forget your sunscreen! Look for Girl Scout signs to direct you to the location at each beach.Girl Scouts (Girls and Adults) register online at gsneo.org
Additional youth are invited and encouraged to come with you, but are not required to register on the GSNEO site. Family & Friends RSVP by email to programs@gsneo.org
