Are you ready to start volunteering with GSNEO?

Step 1: Become a Member

If you are not already a member of GSNEO you will need to complete your member registration before you can begin volunteering.

Step 2: Volunteer Application

First complete the Volunteer Application. This includes providing the names and addresses of three non-related individuals on the application who can verify your qualifications for becoming a Girl Scout volunteer. References from individuals familiar with any past volunteer experience(s) are highly recommended. Inform your references that you have selected them and that they may receive a confidential reference form from us. Please encourage your references to respond as quickly as possible.

NOTE:  If you complete the Criminal Background Check online (see Step 3), then you do not need to complete page 2, of the volunteer application.

Step 3: Criminal Background Check

Note:  If you choose to complete this step online, you do not have to complete page 2 of the volunteer application, but you DO need to submit page 1 of the volunteer application (see step 2).

1. Log on to https://gsneo.volunteerportal.net
2. Enter the password on the Welcome Page: volunteer
3. Enter Personal Information.
   1. All fields marked with a “*” are required.
4. Click Next and review all information to ensure its accuracy before proceeding.
   1. If you Quit without clicking Save, the system will not save your information. Your background check will not be run. You will need to start over from the beginning when you return.
   2. If you click Save before you Quit, you will be provided with a reference code to enter when you return to the site to pick up where you left off.

                     i.    When returning to the site, click on this link on the Welcome Page: “If you are returning to finish a previous search, then click here.”

                    ii.   Enter your last name and reference number to resume your previous search.

     5.   Click Complete

Step 4: Training

Girl Scouts of North East Ohio provides training to adult members as part of its commitment to girls. Volunteers have the opportunity to develop their skills, increase their knowledge of the Girl Scout program and help girls Discover, Connect, and Take Action in their communities and in their world. Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) and Girl Scouts of North East Ohio (GSNEO) believe that prepared adults are key to the access of the Girl Scout movement. GSNEO requires that all adults who hold a position in Girl Scouting must take training. It is a volunteer’s responsibility to complete the required training.  Volunteers are required to complete the following GSUSA courses: GIRL SCOUT 101, WELCOME TO GIRL SCOUTS, and LEADERSHIP ESSENTIALS.
