Marketing Coordinator and Social Media Specialist (FT) –
Position Summary: The Marketing Coordinator and Social Media Specialist supports assigned departments in aligning all phases of the marketing strategy, from content development, to execution, distribution, and measurement. In this role, the Coordinator will ensure the highest standards and brand consistency established by Girl Scouts of the USA. This position requires the ability to manage multiple projects with competing timelines in fast-pace environment and the ability to demonstrate expertise in building professional relationships with vendors, contractors/freelance writers and designers, volunteers, interns and the media.
Major Accountabilities: Serves as project coordinator for council’s advertising, publications, marketing collateral, social media, and media relations campaigns; creates production schedule, budget and a tactical plan. Collaborates with internal staff as well as external vendors (writers, graphic designers, printers, mail house, photographer/videographer, advertising representatives, and other vendors). Creates content publishing schedule for council-related social media platforms, while monitoring and responding to customer questions and comments in a timely manner during the work day, after hours, including weekends and holidays. Cell phone with data plan provided. Promote a positive image of Girl Scouting to internal and external audiences by creating marketing/PR assets for online/digital, social media, and traditional media. Writes press releases, feature stories, bios, program guide content, marketing emails, advertisements, and PowerPoint presentations. Brings the Girl Scout brand to life using imagination and GSUSA toolkits, the brand voice, fonts, colors, and brand essence. Supports membership and program-related events as needed on weekends and evenings. Supervises the work of GSNEO marketing interns. Trains new hires on brand and styles guidelines. Assist with other duties as needed.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, advertising, or related. Two or more years of marketing, communications, public relations, or advertising experience; strong writing, project coordination and creative problem-solving skills. Proficient skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign); need to know or be able to learn to use SharePoint and GSUSA’s Salesforce CRM and other software specific to Girl Scouts. Ability to work within a very fast-paced, quickly evolving organization; manage multiple, complex priorities and respond effectively to change. Must be a self-starter who can assess and manage competing priorities. Ability to pay close attention to detail and maintain confidentiality. Excellent customer service skills. Commitment to inclusiveness. Knowledge of the Girl Scout program preferred. Ability to meet travel requirements, including night, weekend and overnight travel.
