A $5,000 donation from energy logistics company Energy Transfer will improve the reliability of natural gas service for Girl Scouts at Camp Ledgewood in Peninsula, Ohio, as well as water quality at the camp’s Lake Loomis.
The donation will fund the installation of a new electrical line to provide service to the natural gas well at Camp Ledgewood, ultimately ensuring more consistent and reliable gas service for campers. The electrical upgrade will allow for a more reliable pump to be installed at the well.
“This donation will be hugely helpful to meet the energy needs of our Girl Scouts as they enjoy our camp and learn valuable lessons in STEM education, life skills, entrepreneurship, and leadership,” said Jane Christyson, Chief Executive Officer of Girl Scouts of North East Ohio. “Even more, the new pump’s aeration system will improve the water quality at our Lake Loomis.”
Camp Ledgewood is located in Peninsula (Summit County), within the boundaries of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The 350-acre camp features a dining hall and activity center, a swimming pool with shower house, low and high ropes courses, a zip line, an archery range, hiking trails, an amphitheater, an observatory, and Lake Loomis for canoeing, kayaking, and nature studies.
“It is our priority at Energy Transfer to give back to the communities where we live and operate, and we are honored to support the work being done by the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio,” said Robin Tilley Hull, Senior Specialist, Public Affairs at Energy Transfer. “We are huge proponents of STEM education, as well as protecting the outdoors. Funding this new project to enhance energy reliability here at Camp Ledgewood is one small way we can help further the Girl Scouts education and invest in future generations.”
Energy Transfer is one of the largest and most diversified energy logistics companies in the country, with more than 2,300 miles of pipeline infrastructure located in Ohio.
