Outdoor experiences in Girl Scouts provide opportunities for girls to discover new things, make friends, and build confidence! Spending time outdoors can shape girl leaders who are environmentally conscientious and take action to make an impact in their communities. Girl Scouts of North East Ohio offers many fun and rewarding outdoor experiences including canoeing, ropes courses, outdoor skills, hiking, campfires, and more!
Canoeing solo across a lake. Learning to canter on a horse. Counting stars in the night sky.
These are just a few of the experiences awaiting Girl Scouts who are ready to explore the great outdoors. Camp and outdoor experiences can be enjoyed during summer camp, day camp, or year-round.
Troop and service unit camping is when Girl Scout groups reserve a site at one of our camps and stay one night or more. Each camp has something special to offer.
While at camp, many troops enjoy council-sponsored programs when available, work on badges, a Journey, go hiking, and just enjoy being at camp! Check out our Program Guides and Event Calendar for more.

Summer is Resident Camp time! Resident Camp is an overnight camping experience in which campers live at either Camp Ledgewood or Camp Timberlane. Girls sign up as individual campers or go with a buddy. The girls and their counselors/leaders plan activities, taking advantage of the resources available at the campsite. All summer resident staff are specially trained. Resident Camp opportunities are listed in the Summer Camp Guide available in January.
Summer camp offers opportunities for all girls to safely have fun, develop new friendships, and build confidence via mastering new skills. Girls have the option to go for a day, spend the week, or participate with their troop.

Our Day Camps, Community Day Camps, and Twilight Camping are summer programs run for one to five days, and for no more than seven hours per day. This creative outdoor experience is generally theme-based, creating a common thread for the activities. Girls may sign up as individual campers or go with buddies and are put in units of peer group living. Council assists with training the staff and approving the facilities and site. A day/twilight camp may be at a council-owned or approved site. Day and Twilight Camp opportunities are listed in the Summer Camp Guide, available in January.
