Troop/Group Bank Accounts

There’s no limit to what girls can do with the help and support of volunteers like you.
- With your troop/group, the first step is to call the bank branch where you wish to open a free business checking account for your troop.
We recommend that troops open accounts at the following banks which have proven they work well with Girl Scout troops.- Huntington
- KeyBank
- Citizen’s Bank
Get the name and email address of the banker to who you spoke with.
Previously listed as a preferred banking partner, Fifth Third Bank has been removed from this list because GSNEO is no longer provided the ability to maintains corporate oversite or to facilitate fee reversals. Volunteers may continue to bank with Fifth Third Bank; however, they will be responsible for contacting their local branch directly to request fee reversals and to resolve any banking-related issues.
Regretfully, troops may not open bank accounts at PNC or Chase Bank because that bank no longer provides an internal control structure that permits GSNEO to exercise effective oversight of Girl Scout troop accounts in a prudent manner. This represents a different way of doing business from all other banks in this area.
The GSNEO Finance Department staff will assure that the named signers on your form are listed in the GSUSA membership database as the current appointed leaders of the troop/group, and have passed a background check.
Once all volunteer roles and background checks are finalized, GSNEO emails the banker a letter authorizing the troop to open a business checking account using the EIN (Employer Identification Number) of GSNEO and include a W-9.
You will receive a copy of the authorization letter sent to the bank.
NEW BANK ACCOUNT INFORMATION IS REQUIRED TO BE SUBMITTED TO GSNEO WITHIN 10 BUSINESS DAYS OF THE DATE SHOWN ON THE AUTHORIZATION LETTER.
- Schedule an appointment with your bank.
- With authorization letter in hand, return to your banker and fill out signature cards and get your free starter checks and documentation of your account routing and account number.
- Submit your new bank account numbers to GSNEO using the on-line “Submit New Bank Account Numbers” form. You will also be required to upload a signed copy of the Bank Account Signer Agreement.
- Remember that if you leave the troop or are taking over a troop bank account that is already established you must notify GSNEO. Use the “Request to Change Bank Account Signers” on-line form. BANK ACCOUNT SIGNER CHANGES ARE REQUIRED TO BE COMPLETED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF THE DATE SHOWN ON THE AUTHORIZATION LETTER.

Once you have completed changing signers, you will need to upload the new signature card and print, sign, and upload the new Signer Agreement Form WITHIN 30 DAYS OF THE DATE SHOWN ON THE AUTHORIZATION LETTER.
