GSNEO Travel Groups

Absolutely love to travel?  Check out GSNEO travel groups!

Girl Scout Senior International Travel Group

Join a special group dedicated to international travel opportunities for older Girl Scouts. We’ve traveled the world for more than 20 years, with Girl Scouts!

We don’t want to take the place of your regular Girl Scout troop. We offer older girls and troops international travel opportunities for those who wouldn’t be able to do it on their own.

Getting you ready for the world!

We meet monthly, usually on Sunday afternoons or evenings. Come learn about the countries we’ll be visiting, how to pack, what to pack, to stay safe and healthy, about the currency and how to budget money. You’ll learn about cultural diversity, affinity, and respect for other cultures and people. Our group consists of girls from all 18 counties that make up the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio council. Make some new local and not so local friends!

Have fun while you learn and earn! Lots of money earning opportunities for girls and adults to work together to support trip costs. We hold car washes, spaghetti dinners, concession events, plant sales, sell cookies, and more.

Who can join?

Any interested Girl Scouts, ages 11 – 17, from the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio council can join. Please note that Girl Scouts must be 14 years old prior to trip departure and/or entering 9th grade in September of the trip year to travel internationally. However, money earning opportunities are available for all girls wishing to travel on future trips.

Adults are welcome to join our tour on a space available basis. You will not be responsible for supervising Girl Scouts.

Meetings

Brook Park Community Church, 16845 Holland Road, Brook Park, OH 44142

We meet the third Sunday of the month. 4 – 5 p.m. next trip; 5 – 6 p.m. fundraising, 6 – 7 p.m. future trip

Join us on an adventure of discovery, learning, broadening horizons and expanding perspectives.

For more information, call Marjorie Thomas at 216-233-2265.

High Adventure Girl Scouts (H.A.G.S.)

Love adventure and can’t get enough? H.A.G.S. is for you!  The group is open to girls ages 11 to 18 years old.  We’ve got something planned for you every month. Activities include horse camp, scuba diving, caving, zip lining, rock climbing, ice skating, and our old favorite, spa day!

During the summer months we plan a big trip and have travel both domestically and internationally.

The goal of our group is to develop leadership, life skills, and team work.  Our group is girl-led and participants plan, organize, and implement our monthly events!  Including service events with groups such as the local food bank and other organizations.  Money earning activities are also scheduled to help defray the cost of our trips.

Group members receive monthly e-newsletters and emails with information and reminders for upcoming activities.

For more information, contact Kathy Newman at 440-543-8639; or Sue Stone at 440-871-2308.

Combined, Mrs. Newman & Mrs. Stone have over 70 years of Girl Scouting experience and have traveled with girls from Pennsylvania to Peru--from Europe to Alaska and back!

Special Interest Travel Troop 71672

Special Interest Travel Troop 71672 is open to Juniors (5th grade) and older Girl Scouts from anywhere in the GSNEO footprint.

The troop follows Girl Scout progression for travel offering regional, domestic and international trips to Scouts and Troops who would not be able to do these trips on their own. The troop partakes in money-earning activities for Scouts to earn part of the costs of each trip. Scouts pick and choose which trips interest them. Per Girl Scouts, girls must be 14 years old prior to trip departure and/or entering 9th grade in fall of the trip year to travel internationally. However, regional, domestic, and money-earning opportunities are available to all girls in the troop.

This is a great opportunity for girls to become more independent. Girls have a great time but this is not merely a vacation as each trip is inherently educational. There are Girl Scout and learning elements to each trip, as well as community service opportunities. This is not a parent/Scout travel troop – that is, we take the ratio required number of adults plus one and all adult chaperones are First Aid/CPR certified. Inherent in our model is that your daughter will learn about how to plan a trip, how to pack for a trip, how to budget, how to be a good traveler, and good world citizen. She will learn about the culture, food, language, history of the destination that the girls choose. And, she will have the chance to do all of this with like-minded Girl Scouts who all share an interest in travel.

Girls can be a member of a Traditional Troop, Travel Troop, or both.

Current scheduled trips:

May 2023 - Regiional Mystery Trip
June 2023 - Ecuador and Galapagos Islands

Additional trips and destinations will be added in the near future. Please contact Kim Ullner at (843) 819-4557 or GSTroop71672@gmail.com for more information.

Meetings:
Meetings are held one Sunday/month from 1:30-3:30 at various libraries on the East side of Cleveland.
