Giving Tuesday | Girl Scouts of North East Ohio

Giving Tuesday happens every year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

When Juliette Gordon Low started Girl Scouts in 1912, she sold her set of pearls so more girls could participate in Girl Scouting. She led by example in giving back, and on Giving Tuesday, we're asking you to do the same.

Remember, girls are worth every cent. Give the gift of Girl Scouting on Giving Tuesday and support our mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character.

When you give a gift to Girl Scouts of North East Ohio, you help fulfill the dream of making Girl Scouts available to every girl who wants to participate. Your donation will be used to support local girls, troops, and volunteers.

Giving Tuesday is all about celebrating all types of generosity. Still trying to think of ways to participate? There are multiple ways you can support Girl Scouts of North East Ohio!

Shop & Support toggle arrow

Shop & Support is another way for you to donate to your favorite causes without any extra work. All you have to do is create a free account at shopandsupport.org.
When you register, you’ll be asked to pick a charity to support. After you type in “Girl Scouts,” you’ll have the option to support the national council or “select from 113 local councils.” Once you select the local council option, “Girl Scouts of North East Ohio” should appear on the list. Select our council and continue following the on-screen directions. After you’ve logged in, simply connect your credit card to your account (your information is secured with bank level encryption and is not stored by Shop & Support). After that, you’re all set! You can track your purchases and donations through your profile.
You can also find a list of participating retailers on Shop & Support, and each retailer will donate up to 20% of each purchase you make. You can shop with participating retailers in-store or online so it’s perfect for Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping.

Goodshop

Goodshop is another great site that makes donations for you based on your purchases. Simply go to our Goodshop page at Girl Scouts - North East Ohio and hit the “Shop Now” button. You can scroll to the bottom of the “Shop Now” to find different retailers or categories (such as electronics or travel). Pick you retailer or category and Goodshop will provide you with coupons and discounts as well as a link to the website you’re interested in. If you make a purchase through that link, Girl Scouts of North East Ohio will receive a donation matching a percentage of your total (1% - 30% depending on the retailer).

If you’re making a donation, see if your employer will match it! You can find out easily by going to the “Matching Gift” section on our Ways to Give page. Double the Donation will not only check to see if your employer does matching donations, they’ll also provide you with a link to your company’s matching gift page (if they offer it) and give you information such as the minimum donation required and match ratio.

Start a crowdfunding or peer to peer fundraiser like Facebook Fundraisers!

#UNselfie

On Giving Tuesday we’re asking everyone to share their #UNselfie. An #UNselfie is a selfie with a caption or a sign to explain how or why you’re giving. Make sure to use the hashtags #GivingTuesday and #GivingGSNEO to show their support for Girl Scouts of North East Ohio. Plus, if you share your post publicly using the hashtags mentioned, there’s a chance we’ll share your post too! So, share your #UNselfie on your favorite (or multiple) social media platforms and get your friends to join you!

These are just some of the ways you can participate on this #GivingTuesday to support Girl Scouts of North East Ohio but there are so many more! Consider rounding up your purchase price and donating the difference, or pass on your morning cup of coffee and donating that amount instead.
